LF and GPS RF over Optical Fibre
A LF / GPS over fibre system allows RF radio and GPS signals to be transmitted with minimal losses over long cable distances. It provides a secure and interference free link through noisy environments. The technology transparently provides cross-site connection between a LF radio / GPS antenna and receiver unit.
Advantages over Coxial Cable Installations
- Can provide both LF radio and GPS signals over a single cable.
- Minimal signal loss and degradation over very long cable runs upto 10km.
- Provides a highly secure tamper-proof connection between antenna and receiver.
- Interference free link through noisy environments, the optical signal is unaffected by electical noise.
- Flexible, small-diameter, lightweight optical fibre cable favourably with heavy, large diameter and inflexible low-loss coax cable.
- Lower cost of optical fibre cable compared with long cable runs of high quality low-loss coax.
- Complete electrical isolation between antenna and recever protects against lightning strikes and electrical surge
The RF to Fibre system is available in a range of versions:
- GPS only signal reception.
- LF Radio only for MSF / DCF-77 and WWVB time and frequency radio signal reception.
- Dual GPS and LF radio signals combined onto a single fibre.
