Windows Time Server

TimeTools is a UK based manufacturer of Windows Time Server systems and computer time server synchronisation systems. Our solutions provides accurate synchronised time to PC's and network time clients over an IP network. TimeTools can offer a range of GPS, DCF-77 and MSF reference clock timing devices for synchronising time on computers and computer networks. Additionally, out Windows NTP Server devices ensure accurate time on Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 networks and also provide a synchronisation resource for LINUX servers, routers, switches and our Digital Wall Clocks.

TimeTools also provides a number of Freeware utilities for our customers to help configure and maintain accurate timing systems on their in-house networks. The Windows NTP Time Server syslog daemon is a free to download utility. Please feel free to use and distribute our syslog daemon utility completely free of charge.

TimeTools Windows Time Server Syslog Daemon is a utility that runs on any Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 workstation or server. It allows any syslog messages from any Linux or Unix based syslog client to be logged and displayed.

The utility listens for syslog messages generated by a LINUX \ UNIX syslog server and displays the message information along with date and time information, remote IP address and priority information.

The windows ntp server syslog daemon analyses the priority information and highlights warnings, errors and critical errors in different colours as follows.

• 0 Emergency: system is unusable RED
• 1 Alert: action must be taken immediately RED
• 2 Critical: critical conditions RED
• 3 Error: error conditions YELLOW
• 4 Warning: warning conditions YELLOW
• 5 Notice: normal but significant condition YELLOW
• 6 Informational: informational messages GREEN
• 7 Debug: debug-level messages GREEN

To Do:

22 Jan 2007 - Add the functionality to filter the syslog output, so that just information from a specified IP address or host computer can be displayed on it's own. The filter could be extended so that only error messages or severe warnings are displayed for a particular host computer.
