TimeTools NTP Server s5000 - MSF-60 or DCF-77 Radio Time Synchronisation

TimeTools NTP s5000 NTP Server is a 1U high rack-mountable dedicated stratum 1 radio synchronised network time server. The device synchronise's to either the MSF-60 (UK) or the DCF-77 (German) radio time and frequency signal. The device is CE and FCC certified for sale in Europe and North America and is utilised by a number of blue-chip organizations.

The s5000 provides a highly accurate time reference directly to your LAN/WAN. The device can accurately synchronise most operating systems and network devices, including; Windows platforms, LINUX, UNIX, Novell Netware and CISCO routers and switches.

TimeTools NTP s5000 series NTP Servers are also available as a GPS NTP Server and a Dual Reference NTP Time Server with integrated GPS receiver.

Product Overview

TimeTools s5000 NTP Server is a 1U high, rack-mountable stratum 1 Radio network time reference. It is supplied with a high-gain radio receiver that constantly receives either the MSF-60 (UK) or DCF-77 (German) radio time and frequency transmissions.

The device provides a highly accurate time reference to your LAN/WAN with an ethernet NTP output dispersion of less than 1.4 milliseconds.

The s5000 series utilises an unmodified version of the latest Network Time Protocol distribution, 4.2. As new releases become available, they can easily be uploaded into the device using FTP.

The device is a enclosed in a compact yet rugged aluminum enclosure able to endure the riggers of long term use. Consuming typically less than 12 watts, the low power consumption allows the unit to run very cool, aiding long term reliability.

System configuration and management is via a web enabled menu driven interface. Alternatively, a console or telnet menu driven configuration is available. Full statistics are stored on the device and made available via FTP. All user connections, such as HTTP, Telnet and console, are password-protected and can be disabled to aid security.

MSF and DCF-77 Radio Time & Frequency Broadcasts

The MSF-60 radio time and frequency transmission is broadcast from Anthorn, Cumbria, UK, and is available throughout the British Isles and North-Western Europe. The DCF-77 radio time and frequency transmission is broadcast from Frankfurt, Germany, and available throughout central and western Europe. The advantage of radio based time reception is that often a good signal can be obtained indoors close to the time server. The expense of installing externally mounted antennas is often not required.

The MPS weatherproof radio antenna is supplied with the s5000 and can be wall-mounted, outdoors if required, up to 100m from the time server using CAT3 or better structured cabling.
